Last Sunday AnakJajan and #JKTfoodies friends visited Pasar Santa with one and only mission, to EAT :) AnakJajan always love hanging out with our crazy foodie friends that have the same passion and hobby with us. We tried quite a lot of food at Pasar Santa and I decided to share with you our ‘jajan’ diary at Pasar Santa.

Pasar Santa is located very close to Senopati & Gunawarman especially Wolter Monginsidi road, simply turn left after Total Buah Wolter Monginsidi near Wu Jang Gun and then turn left again on the first turn, drive for around 50m and you will arrive at the destination.

Pasar Santa especially on the second floor now is now packed with various interesting shops opened by young and creative entrepreneurs. Most of the shop here sell food from appetizer to dessert, sweet to savory, but besides that you can also find non food shops such as barber shop, shoes, cloth, accessories, etc.

Chocolate Caramel Sundae IDR 25k – Jang Manies
Soft cream with kitkat, coco crunch and caramel sauce. The ice cream was way too watery and not milky nor creamy enough.

Pork Green Chili Fried Rice IDR 42k – Legoh
The fried pork belly was tasty and well seasoned. The fried rice itself has a potential to be tasty but unfortunately I think they directly fry the rice with green chili without adding any additional seasoning because it tasted plain and need more seasoning such as salt.

Fried Chicken with Rica Sambal – Legoh
Battered fried chicken with rica seasoning in medium spicy level. The chicken was crunchy and tasty but way too spicy for my liking :D

Waffle with Green Tea Ice Cream
Average waffle with Di*mond green tea ice cream, typical ice cream used at Taiwanese dessert just like HongTang.

Hotdog – D.O.G Dudes of Gourmet
The shop immediately crowded with huge line of queue as soon as they open at 3pm. The Hotdog is very appealing with black bun and yellow sauce but for me personally it tasted just okay and a bit overrated. The only highlight would be the juicy tasty sausage. Bun itself was okay it will be nicer it they toast the bread too.

Claypot Rice IDR 25k – Claypot Po Po
After having some okay food, we finally had an awesome one Claypot Po Po. At first I thought it will be similar with typical claypor rice at Singapore but this one was totally different and new for us. Rice was cooked inside clay pot and then covered with thick egg tofu gravy and then topped with corn, carrot and beef/chicken as for the egg you can request fully cooked or raw egg.

Mix all of the ingredients well and you will get creamy thick consistency just like porridge. It was tasty and seasoned very well and definitely the highlight from our trip, in fact I’m craving for it already.

[TIPS]
If you are a first timer at Pasar Santa, here’s some tips for you:

  • Wear casual, comfortable and thin cloth and shoes. This is a market and not a mall, so there is no air conditioning or elevator.
  • Weekend afternoon around 2-3pm might be the best time to visit because most of the shops here tend to open in the afternoon.
  • Opening hours on each shop is different, if you have any specific shop you want to visit it is the best if you confirm the opening hours by checking their social media account first.
  • Visit with a group of friends just like us so you can share and try the food as much as you can.
  • Parking space is very limited since this is a market and not a mall once again. We recommend you to gather with your friends first and then come together in one car, or maybe using public transportation.

Overall our ‘jajan’ experience at Pasar Santa was super fun, we love how innovative and varied the products offered here. We can see that this trend is kinda evolving and who knows maybe there will be another ‘Pasar Santa’ soon. Let’s Jajan!!
