In conjunction with Indonesian Independence day, the theme of the pairing dinner was Indonesian food consist of 5-course meal specially prepared by Chef DjokoSarwono with carefully selected 6 types of wine.
CRAYFISH SALAD
Crayfish with rujak juhi
Miles From Nowhere Margaret River Chardonnay 2011
Perfect starter to waking my appetite up.
CHICKEN LAWAR
Balinese traditional salad with marinated shredded chicken
Miles From Nowhere Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Crunchy refreshing Lawar Chicken wrapped in cucumber. The seasoning was spot on, it screams Bali in every bite.
PRAWN LAKSA
Deconstructed prawn laksa with spicy coconut sauce
Shaw & Smith Shiraz 2009
AnakJajan just cannot believe that how can a dish looks so sophisticated like this taste so bold and authentic making me feel like we are eating a bowl of laksa actually. Very good and well paired with Shaw & Smith Shiraz 2009.
RENDANG WAGYU
Marinated wagyu beef in a spicy coconut rendang sauce
Edwards Shiraz 2010
Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache 2010
Yummehh, juicy perfectly cooked medium wagyu beef with Indonesian spicy coconut rendang sauce. AnakJajan love the rendition of Indonesian rendang sauce by Chef DjokoSarwono from this dish so much. As for the wine, they are preparing two types of wine to be paired with this dish, AnakJajan personally enjoyed Glaetzer Wallace Shiraz Grenache 2010 more.
DADAR GULUNG
Rolled crepé filled with palm sugar and grated coconut served with orange sorbet
Moscato d’Bali
Traditional Indonesian crepe with palm sugar seasoned grated coconut with refreshing tangy orange sorbet served with a glass of Moscato d’Bali. I always love sweet bubbly wine from Moscato wine, the combination between these two are a perfect to end our meal.
AnakJajan never knew and just realized that Indonesian food can go really well with wine, paired really well with the right wine. Fyi, Wine Pairing Dinner at VIN+ is open for public, you can check their website or social medias for any information or update for upcoming Wine Pairing event. Let’ Jajan!!
