Yesterday night, AnakJajan got invited by Cacaote to celebrate their first anniversary with the launch of new menu. Yes, this is a super fast blog post indeed, posted within a day after the Thursday night dinner purely because I want to write while I still have a clear memory about it not because I want to be the first among other bloggers.
Most of the people we met are surprised by how well all of the food bloggers know each other. Yes, most of us are friends and that’s all because of we often meet each other and eventually day by day we became super close.
Maybe some of you might be curious about how is the competition among the food bloggers for being the best, most popular or having the most followers. Well not every food bloggers are like that, some might become super ambitious, while some are still super cool and keep doing what they love. For me, there’s nothing wrong for being ambitious, but ambition must be followed by passion, love, capability and remember not to be a back stabber and keep prioritizing friendship over the competition, don’t you agree?
Actually, last night I did something stupid, yes I brought my camera with low battery. It was a troublesome condition for Mr. Jajan for not being able to take picture freely. Some of my blogger friends are super sweet and concern with our condition. Verdi from Hungry Doctor offered me to borrow his charger, but unfortunately we didn’t bring our Canon Camera. Hans from EatAndTreats offered to share photos from his camera in case we couldn’t take any picture anymore.
But lucky us, Mr. Jajan manage to save the battery until the last dish and even though he only took around 1 or 2 shots for each object, surprisingly he did a super great job and the cruel hard to please editor (me) is satisfied with all of the photos. I guess Mr. Jajan did well with pressure :D
Well learning from this experience all I can say is that some people just have pure loving heart. And I just wanna thank them for being nice to me and teaching me lesson to become a better person for others and also for checking my battery before going out next time :)
Alright, I babble enough I should start talking about the food before you all getting bored :)
While chatting with Darryl one of the owner, AnakJajan found out that his girlfriend (also one of the owner of Cacaote) is actually our senior in high school. What a small world indeed!! So basically compared to the beginning, almost 80% of the menu at Cacaote has been changed starting from starter, soup, salad, vegetarian, pasta, pizza, grill, seafood, bar food and plated dessert with price range from IDR 65k to IDR 525k. Here’s some of the dish AnakJajan tried.
Foie Gras IDR 255k
Brioche french toast, hazelnut crumbs, poached pear, cranberry sauce
Foie gras was cooked very nice, it has a nice charred on the outside. It was very tender and buttery and goes really well with the sweet sour cranberry sauce. Love it.
Butternut Squash Veloute IDR 85k
Boursin cheese ravioli, beurre noisette
Comfort sweet savory creamy squash soup with al dente perfectly cooked ravioli. It was a warm and hearty bowl of soup indeed.
Black Angus Tenderloin IDR 350k
Potato rosti, creamed spinach, perigueux sauce, charred baby leeks
Super tender!! No wonder this one has become one of the recommended dish. Perfectly cooked tender and juicy black angus tenderloin, goes really well with crunchy potato rosti and creamy spinach. Mr. Jajan is a meat dish kind of person and he enjoyed this dish very much. This one was runner up of that night.
Salmon IDR 155k
Pan seared salmon, white clams, braised fennel, sauteed spinach, chives beurre blanc
Salmon was good but didn’t scream wow for me though, maybe because we had too much yummy goodness alredy. It taste more comfort than the other dish with a perfectly cooked salmon and crispy skin.
Portabella Pizza IDR 95k
Bocconcini, mushroom puree, white truffle oil
Thin crunchy crust pizza was also very good. The Portabella one has mushroom and truffle oil flavor while my favorite is the Four Cheese Pizza IDR 120k, I’m sorry we didn’t have the picture of Four Cheese Pizza due to my low battery, it was so good and addicting, very recommended.
Prime Veal Op Ribs IDR 375k 300gr / IDR 650k 900gr
From the grill, AnakJajan tried 2 dishes, Prime Veal Op Ribs was good and tender with Classic Bordelaise Sauce but the winner goes to Wagyu Short Rib Bone In IDR 525k 600gr, our number 1 favorite dish of the night, so so so soooooooo tender and good it literally melts in you mouth. I’m so sorry for not having the picture of it, but promise me if you are going to have dinner at Cacaote, remember to order Wagyu Short Rib okay?!
Texture of Chocolate IDR 90k
Chocolate parfait, chocolate sorbet, chocolate crumbs, dehydrated chocolate mousse, chocolate twigs, chocolate glaze, hot chili chocolate sauce
By reading the description of this dish I immediately know that I have to order it for Mr. Jajan because he loves chocolate dessert a lot and as expected he enjoyed it very much. Just combine all of the ingredients in one spoon and you will have an explosion of rich chocolate taste with several texture in your mouth. Love the mild chili chocolate sauce from this dish.
Berry Mille Fuille IDR 85k
Raspberry rosemary sauce, berry cream, vanilla creme patisserie, raspberry jam, puff pastry, berry sorbet, raspberry sphere
A sweet and sour fruity dessert dish. This wasn’t my dish but I manage to tried a lil bit, the berry sorbet was refreshing and nice.
Mango, Banana, Caramel IDR 85k
Micro vanilla sponge, banana parfait, mango jelly sheet, salted caramel, caramel tuille, peanut butter crumble, milk chocolate sorbet, parmesan snow
Taste from banana was rather mild but I love the light comfort taste from this whole dish. Perfect for those who doesn’t like heavy dessert.
Sphere IDR 90k
Chocolate ball, countreau, peanut butter cookies, chocolate chantily, chopped caramelized nuts, chocolate cremeux
It looks so pretty I don’t have the heart to break it so I ask the staff to do that :)
Inside the chocolate ball there’s a red heart hiding inside, overall texture was nice with choco nutty flavor combination. Darryl told me that one of their customer used this dish to hide a ring for a wedding proposal, my oh my so sweet and romantic.
Besides all of the menu above, of course tons of sweet macaron, chocolate and cakes displayed on the showcase are available for you to choose. Mr. Jajan was attracted with this lychee cake below but eventually it was soldout at the end of our meal so I promised him I’ll bring him to Cacaote next time to have his lychee cake :)
Overall, all of the dishes we had are satisfying with a great taste and quality. Pssstt: a lil secret for you, soon Cacaote will open a new branch at Grand Indonesia with more modern casual concept. Happy one year anniversary for Cacaote Patisserie, Brasserie & Bar and Let’s Jajan!!
