Hello from Japan!! Nahhh, just kidding, I’m still at Jakarta at this moment, AnakJajan will be at Japan by the end of month (so excited I wish I could fast forward the time). This photo above was actually taken at Izakaya Issei one of the new restaurant sellin Japanese Food at Jakarta – Senopati area, ooopsiee :)
Izakaya Issei is located on the second floor of the same building with a small cafe called Appetite Cafe just right beside Cacaote. They are specializing in Yakitori and Sake. The interior is quite simple with wooden chair and table dominated with dark painted wall.
AnakJajan and friends actually were planning to have a brunch at a small french bakery at Kemang, we even talked about which menu we want to order there, but unfortunately it was closed on that day and we didn’t have any back up plan, sooo after driving around South Jakarta, we decided to have our super late lunch at Izakaya Issei.
Korokke Potato IDR 27k
The korokke aka potato croquette was quite good, well seasoned, soft inside and crunchy on the outside. The salad side dish also had a really good and refreshing seasoning to balance the fried korokke.
Chicken Karaage IDR 27k
Soo GOOD I cannot stop munching it!!! This deep fried chicken thigh was sooo fragrant and juicy with the right amount of saltiness, addictive!
Jacko Garlic Rice IDR 45k
I don’t know maybe because the place still new, some of the staff was still kinda lack of product knowledge. When I asked her description about the menu she was kinda confuse and gave me an answer that is already stated clearly in the menu book. For example I asked her what is the different between Jacko Garlic Rice and Garlic Rice because the price difference of 10k, she answered me because one with jacko and one without jacko (*facepalm), then I asked her what is jacko, she also couldn’t describe it clearly.
Sooo apparently jacko is a super small fish abit similar with ‘teri’ fish. The rice smells really good, dominated with the glorious garlic aroma, taste also really delicious especially when you eat it with the jacko and fried crispy chicken skin. I was super hungry and kinda disappointed with the portion, I thought that the portion will be bigger since this menu listed in the ‘Bigger’ menu list, hungrayyyy!!
Gyudon IDR 56.5k
A bowl of rice with yakiniku beef on top and served with a bowl of miso soup. Overall just okay because the beef wasn’t tender enough but the portion was big though.
Hamburg Steak IDR 55k
Soft tender chicken hamburg steak with special sauce. This one also listed in the ‘Bigger’ menu list, but I think without any side dish it’s more suitable if they put it in a ‘Smaller’ list.
Eby Curry Udon IDR 125k
The curry sauce was really unique, light and clear soup with a hint of curry aroma and taste, quite a nice soup to be eaten with udon and crunchy eby tempura.
Overall although the menu list was kinda confusing, the food was quite good, my favorite of the day will be the Jacko Fried Rice. Let’s Jajan!!
