Fried duck a la Indonesia is one of our favorite dishes when it comes to Indonesian food. A while ago AnakJajan visited this newly opened restaurant Bebek Malio serving fried duck with traditional authentic style from Surabaya.
The restaurant building is pretty spacious and roomy with brick walls, dark wooden furniture with some Indonesian ornaments.
Menus at Bebek Malio are pretty simple with fried duck and chicken as their signature menu with some side dishes available such as vegetables, Tahu Telur, Sayur Asam, Otak-Otak, Crispy Mushroom, etc.
Otak-Otak IDR 4.5k
Tahu Telur IDR 18k
Jamur Crispy IDR 16k
Bebek Goreng IDR 24.5k or IDR 26.5k with Sambel Pencit
Served with fried coconut or serundeng the fried duck was tender, it was well marinated and very flavorful. For extra spicy kick, try dipping it to their signature red chili sauce or pencit sambal (mango chili sauce) for tangy fresh kick from the young mango.
But the most special thing here is their ‘Bumbu Ijo‘ a green sauce condiment they serve on top of the rice. Bumbu Ijo was not a chili sauce, it was a curry taste a like sauce that you are supposed to mix with the rice while eat it with fried duck. The sauce has this distinctive rich flavor that totally enhance and compliment the rice and fried duck really well. Sooo good!! Just give me one portion of rice with Bumbu Ijo then I’m happy!
Ahhhh, writing this post is seriously killing me, I cannot stop drooling thinking about the meal we had at Bebek Malio!
Bebek Goreng Remuk IDR 26.5k
If you love crunchy fried duck than this menu is a must order. The duck was smashed and then deep fried till super crunchy to the bone.
Ayam Goreng IDR 20k or IDR 22k with Sambal Pencit
Fried chicken was also really good and you must consider ordering it. The chicken was good and well seasoned, but the main reason it was so good simply because the crunchy toppings or Kremes. It was one of the BEST ayam kremes AnakJajan ever had!! Period!! The kremes or crunchy toppings was seriously super good, crunchy and flavorful to the max.
If your office is around Tebet Timur Raya area and you are too lazy to go out for lunch, you can easily pick up your phone and call Bebek Malio for delivery too.
Overall AnakJajan had pretty satisfying meal at Bebek Malio, the green sauce condiment was very special and tasty it cannot be found easily at any other places in Jakarta. If you happen to be around this area, give it a try and we are sure that you’ll be lovin it as much as we did. Let’s Jajan!!
