Eating out at Market can be fun too!! Last week, me and Mr. Jajan decide to woke up earlier and had breakfast at Fresh Market Pantai Indah Kapuk like we used to do back then.
Unlike Mr. Jajan, being a spoiled child I never step my foot on traditional market at all, I usually still sleeping or waiting inside my car while my mom shop at the market. The reason behind it of course because there’s nothing interesting inside traditional market at all and we all know that this kind of market in Indonesia mostly are dirty and smelly.
But times have changed, there are a lot of new and modern markets with better and cleaner arrangement that are not only provide raw ingredients, but a lot of interesting snacks and food also available there. My first encounter with wet market would be BSD Pasar Modern with lot’s of interesting snacks I love so much such as Serabi Solo Notosuman, Golden Egg Tart, etc. But because we live kinda far from there, we are quite happy knowing modern market at Pantai Indah Kapuk North Jakarta is also quite interesting.
There are two main area of this market with different opening hours. First is Fresh Market that opens morning providing raw ingredients such as fruit, vegetables, fish, meat and a lot of breakfast choices. Second is Food Plaza PIK that opens at night filled with many dinner choices such as seafood, soto, chinese food, dimsum, etc. This time AnakJajan will talk about the Fresh Market.
On the first floor you can find a lot of fruits and vegetables, while on the basement floor is meat and fish area. Whole market is clean and neat with great ventilation you won’t experience unpleasant smells here.
AnakJajan always love the ambiance at Fresh Market’s Food Center on second floor, filled with a lot of breakfast choices such as noodle, lontong sayur, duck noodle, kwetiaw, fritters, coffee, etc.
The atmosphere here is just like those food centers we usually found at Singapore, don’t you think?? Let’s start our ‘Jajan’!!
Bacang Dinosaurus IDR 25k
This one actually located on the first floor right in front of the escalator to second floor. Their huge Rice Dumpling (Bacang) caught Mr.Jajan’s eyes he decided to take away one. It was quite good with pork belly, salted egg yolk, pork sausage and shitake mushroom filling.
Ayang Bihun Bebek PIK 1 IDR 30k
Buhun Bebek or Duck Noodle was served with rice noodle, lettuce, scallions, duck meat and soup. You have to pour the soup into noodle to enjoy it, the duck was super tender and juicy while the soup taste kinda sweet with hint of spices and unfortunately I cannot find any of duck broth inside the soup. It was okay for me, maybe because I have really high expectation because I’ve tried the famous and legendary Bihun Bebek Asie Kumango from Medan.
Besides heavy meal, here also available a lot of snacks such as soy milk, mendoan, toast, beancurd pudding, etc.
Mixed Rice with 5 side dishes IDR 15k – Pasar Ramai Medan Vegetarian Food
One of Mr.Jajan’s favorite here. Pasar Ramai Medan stall sells tasty vegetarian food mixed rice IDR 12k for 3 side dishes or IDR 15k for 5 side dishes, Mr. Jajan always choose his rice with 5 side dishes. All of the side dishes are vegetarian, so no meat at all.
Can you imagine this mixed rice above is only IDR 15k with 5 side dishes??
Nasi Kari Special Bagan IDR 27k – Masakan Bagan Nasi Kari Si Chuan
This stall might be our top reason to visit Fresh Market PIk :) because we love curry rice a la Baganese at ‘Masakan Bagan – Nasi Kari Si Chuan’ stall (block A No.096) so much.
Basically, curry rice ala Baganese consist of rice topped with thick curry sauce, duck egg, pork charsiu, pork belly, chili prawns and red chili sauce. Unlike any curry rice we had (Nyonya, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Indonesian), Baganese curry rice taste really different yet super addicting. Super recommended you have to give it a try!
Overall, eating at market can be super fun with difference experience than you usually had at the malls or restaurants, so give it a try! Let’s Jajan!! :)
